Wonderful homey pub with excellent staff. The talented chefs make miracles in the tiny kitchen/closet. The Sunday roast was amazing. Lamb rump with roasted veg and a house made mint sauce that is simply perfect. The jamon iberico croquetas and the gazpacho (a new addition to the menu) were absolutely delicious, as well. A true hidden gem.
Long story short, it seemed to me that I was served whatever food was left and shoved into one plate to charge me £23 which I found disingenuous. I literally wasted £67, two roast dinner and two drinks. Do not recommend this pub for a meal at all.
The service was very nice, everyone was polite, friendly and professional. I visited here on a Sunday evening, around 17:30. They literally didn’t have anything we wanted at that point, even dessert, which was totally fine as I knew it was pretty late for Sunday roast. However, the whole experience was way worse than I anticipated.
First of all, I wasn’t impressed with the quality of meat, the beef had quite a bit of gristles (I mean A LOT relative to the portion size). On top of that, one of the slices had large fat so literally the edible part was very little. It was really tough to cut (impossible with the most useless knife ever in my entire life) and very dry on the edges.
The cabbage…it was awful. Literally impossible to consume. Even in the photo, you can tell how hard it was. Why did they even serve something inedible on the plate?
The potatoes….OH MY GOD. This bothered me the most. Literally the potatoes were as dry as left over chips from a previous day (literally), but with a THICK BURNT bottom 🎉 Had I even had an experience where I couldn’t cut my potatoes at all? Not until this occasion. Literally speechless.
Yorkshire pudding, it was like frozen ones. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was. I would be surprised if a professional chef made it.
They didn’t bother warm it up either, a cold dry puff.
Gravy, literally meh. No flavour or depth, not salty enough for me when the meat wasn’t properly seasoned. Very watery.
I genuinely don’t see the point of coming to this pub for a meal when there’s a way better, maybe one of the best gastro pubs just around the corner.
I’m sorry but it’s just unbelievable…the audacity to serve such poor quality food. Very unprofessional and way too overpriced for such poor standards.
A beautiful local pub - warm, friendly and with absolutely excellent staff. Really nice ambience, especially so close to Christmas, and their festive menu was delicious.
Went to the Arms for a Christmas lunch with a mate. Scallops, followed by Tomahawk steak with all the trimmings. Both cooked perfectly. Had a great London Pride pint to start and then great recommendations from the team on both the white and the red. Sat by the fire in the backroom and didn't leave till 6. Proper pub - but with gastro-pub food. And very friendly and professional service. A brilliant find. Am coming back soon.
I cannot recommend this lovely pub enough - they've given shelter from the storm countless times, provided a delicious drop and a glorious bite to eat!
The service is outstanding, filled with delightful, interesting people who, in my experience, go beyond the extra mile to look after you. Never tasted a better Guinness anywhere else.
I've been lucky enough to eat here (several times) and my god, THIS was what i call food. You can taste that a real amount of care and detail goes into the menu items. (I always get the chocolate fondant!)
Overall, I know where my favourite pub in London is - Its here. The Andover Arms. I cant wait to go back. In fact, Im probably about to head there to now!
Lovely little pub, nice selection of drinks, friendly staff and great food. What more can you ask for?!
Had a fantastic Sunday afternoon in the newly reopened and refurbished pub. The team were very friendly and helpful, the roast beef was perfect and the chocolate fondant dessert was to die for. Highly recommend and we will be back very soon.
We had a fantastic Christmas lunch at the Andover Arms in 2022. The staff were warm and welcoming and the food was fantastic. Five courses, after a glass of champagne was the perfect way to celebrate Christmas. We were never rushed, the courses came at perfect intervals and the atmosphere was intimate yet nicely lively. Thank you for a fabulous afternoon.
